Minecraft Mondays at Durham University

Casual survival, fun challenges and friendly competitions.
Every Monday evening at 7:30 PM — open to all Durham University students.

Weekly Casual Gaming

What is Minecraft Monday?

Every Monday at 7:30 PM, Durham students hop into the Discord to play some Minecraft, simple as that! Each session has a fresh, standalone theme—from Bingo to beating the Ender Dragon with a single, shared inventory across all players.

If you can't make the start, that's fine! You can join whenever you wish and we will get you up to speed with the gear you need. Minecraft Monday has no set finish time, and you can leave whenever you wish.

Do I need to be really good at Minecraft?

Not at all. While we are a section of the Durham Esports and Gaming Society (DUEG), Minecraft is 100% casual. We focus on exploring, building, and having fun together.

  • All skill levels welcome: Never beaten the game before? We'll make sure you reach the Ender Dragon fight with the group.
  • Mics are optional: Listen along in voice chat or just use in-game text chat.
  • Free for all students: You do not need a paid society membership to play.

Help

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about joining sessions, society membership, and voice chat.

Do I need to be a paid member of DUEG to join?

No. Any Durham University student is welcome to join our Discord and jump straight into Monday sessions and holiday servers. Official society membership is encouraged to support hosting costs, but completely optional.

I have friends from other universities, can they join?

Yes! DUEG is open to guest students from other universities and Minecraft Mondays are similarly open to everyone.

How do I get the server IP?

The server IP is posted in #minecraft-mondays on our Discord once you select the Minecraft role in #role-assignment.

Do I have to speak in voice chat?

No. Many members prefer to sit muted in voice chat to listen along, while communicating via in-game or Discord text channels.

Can I join if I'm brand new to Minecraft?

Absolutely. Our sessions are cooperative and casual. Other players are always happy to share gear, explain mechanics, and help you get started.

What version of Minecraft do you run?

We typically run the latest stable Java Edition release (once performance mods are released for it). For modded challenge events, required versions and 1-click profiles are provided on our modpack page.
